ReplyDeleteThanks John for checking up.
DeleteI am ready for the return of second season of Elementary.

While the return to Sherlock's roots is a cool idea, isn't it encroaching on BBC's territory a little too much? Regardless, maybe season 2 will make more sense than the first season and just maybe on the off chance it might consider using the source material a little more. By the way, I finally read "A Study in Scarlet" and of course it was brilliant.

Thanks James. Glad that you liked A Study in Scarlet.
DeleteI do not think Elementary is not encroaching on BBC Sherlock's territory, by returning to London. In fact, it brings the CBS show closer to the Canon.
I think it was the fear of the lawsuit they were threatened with, that CBS decided to base the show in NY and make John Watson into Joan Watson.
As for using the source material, I think it is better to leave the Canon alone. So far, they did not really impress me with their update of The Adventure of Charles Augustus Milverton, in Episode # 20 "Dead Man's Switch".
Perhaps, it is for the best that the CBS show writers create their own mysteries and maintain the show's identity as a "pastiche".

I enjoyed Elementary and hope Season Two does justice to both Lestrade & Mycroft. I read Mycroft will have a longer story arc and hope it goes well.
ReplyDeleteAs for using The Canon, who knows: they may do well w/it.
Thanks Rick.
DeleteI too hope Lestrade and Mycroft get a good deal. They are my favorite characters, right after SH.
B2B.
To be honest, Lestrade and Mycroft are the two reasons I'm giving season two a shot.
ReplyDeleteThe mustache is an... interesting touch to Mycroft... Why is it I keep getting fascinated by facial hair with these adaptions?
Thanks Loveable Freak. You have the same reasons as myself :)
DeleteI hope Rhys Ifans' version of Mycroft does not get campy.
