Dear Readers,
As the Season 3 filming progresses, we are getting more information about the episodes. Today, Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat have revealed the name of the second episode: The Sign of Three.
The title is a play on the name of the second novel, The Sign of Four. John Watson meets Mary Morstan in this story.
Steve Thompson ("The Blind Banker" and "The Reichenbach Fall") is handling the writing duties for this episode.

My friend and I were just talking about when "The Sign of Four" would be adapted into the series yesterday, glad they decided to do it. I suppose Mary Morstan will be introduced into the series in that episode.

I still have yet to actually read the stories yet, but I do know quite a bit about it from websites and my friends. They are on my reading list, but I do not have much time between blogging and Collage. However, my two favorite adaptations are the BBC Sherlock episode "The Reichenbach Fall" and Robert Downy Jr.'s "A Game of Shadows", although U do want to give the Russian version a try since you mentioned it as one of the best.

DeleteMy personal favorites are the BBC series Sherlock (Benedict Cumberbatch) and the Russian series (Vasily Livanov). In my humble opinion, the Sherlock Holmes as portrayed by these 2 actors is the closest to the character as written by Arthur Conan Doyle.

Apologies again, B2B! I didn't mean to be spoilerish in my comment this morning. Amanda Abbington (Martin Freeman's significant other) will be in series 3 starting in "The Empty Hearse". Everything else was speculation on my part.

The name Steven Moffat is verboten to this Whovian, which made me reluctant to watch Sherlock. I reserve all judgment until we see the story, but the Granada adaptation of The Sign of Four is a personal favorite.
DeleteMy knowledge of the Dr Who universe is very limited and am unable to relate to your thoughts vis-a-vis Moffat and Dr Who.
DeleteI do like his writing for "A Study in Pink" and much more importantly, his decision to cast Benedict Cumberbatch as the legendary detective.
